TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 03 August 2026 – Participants of the 16th RBAF Command and Staff Course recently completed a series of study visits from 3 to 6 August 2026 to units across the Royal Brunei Armed Forces following the completion of the Military Capability Module.

The four-day programme commenced with a visit to the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) at the start of the week, followed by the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and concluded with a visit to the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF).

The study visits provided participants with greater insight into the current capabilities, operational roles and future development plans of each Services and Headquarters. Particular emphasis was placed on how their respective capability development initiatives support the priorities and strategic direction outlined in the Defence White Paper 2026.

During the visits, participants attended presentations covering existing capabilities, ongoing projects, operational requirements and future plans. Each presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, which allowed participants to engage directly with commanders and subject matter experts. The discussions provided valuable perspectives on capability planning, joint integration, organisational development and the challenges associated with translating strategic direction into operational capabilities.

The programme was further enriched by the attendance of senior leadership, including the Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, RBAF Joint Force Commander, the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces, and the Chief of Staff of the Royal Brunei Navy. Their participation encouraged open and constructive discussions and provided participants with a deeper understanding of the priorities and considerations influencing capability development across the RBAF.

During the visits, course participants were also given the opportunity to visit the RBAirF Museum, the RBAF Museum, static displays at RBLF and boarded KDB DARULAMAN at RBN. These activities provided additional insight into the development, history and operational contributions of the RBAF.

The study visits complemented the theoretical knowledge gained during the Military Capability Module by allowing participants to observe how capability development principles are applied within an operational setting. The programme also highlighted the importance of jointness, interoperability, effective governance and long-term planning in ensuring that the RBAF remains relevant, responsive and prepared to address future security challenges.
