-  The CSC students have completed their 4-week Foundation Studies
module and now continue to embark on their academic journey. This
Foundation Studies module is designed to equip students with the
essential skills required to succeed in their academic pursuits.
Reflective practise, academic writing, sense making, critical thinking,
and research methods – are amongst the tools at the student’s disposal
in facing their assignments. Reflective practice encourages students to
evaluate their own experiences and learning, helping them to identify
areas for improvement and become more self-aware. Whereas academic
writing teaches students how to write with clarity and precision, and to
effectively structure and present their ideas. Moreover, critical
thinking develops the ability to evaluate information and arguments, and
to think independently. Together, these skills are essential for
academic success, and form part of the student’s professional
development in their careers.

In general, the course pays
particular attention towards developing skills such as reflective
practise and critical thinking to develop the student’s capacity to
think beyond the superficial. A key message constantly accentuated to
the students to dig deeper and try to understand complex information and
concepts, and to make connections between different ideas.
